Ian was born in England, but then spent twenty-two years in South Africa, before returning to the UK. Betweem 1996 - 2007 Ian conceived, planned and led five expeditions to Mount everest, reaching the summit on two occasions.  Before embarking on his Everest expeditions Ian worked as a school teacher, an internal auditor, a restaurant owner & head chef, as well as servig as an officer in the British Army.  Each and every time that Ian presents his audience continues to give rave reviews of the experience and the way that he has changed their views on leadership styles.

Presentation : Innovation Myths and Realities

Thomas Stat - Co-Founder, Executive Director, Edison Universe

Tom is a senior strategy consultant, innovation thought leader, teacher, author, speaker and facilitator in the world of innovation consulting and design thinking.Tom was a senior leader at IDEO (one of the world consultancies) for almost 12 years, where he contributed to a wide variety of innovation consulting engagements, managed a number of IDEO directed business development efforts across all IDEO practice areas. At IDEO, Tom was involved in a wide range of innovation initiatives for clients including Motorola, Chrysler, 3M, Tetra Pak, Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), Starbucks, NAVTEQ, Whirlpool, P&G, Eli Lilly, McDonalds, American Express, American Greetings, W.W. Grainger, Walgreens, AT&T and Bayer, The American Red Cross, among many others.

Prior to IDEO, Tom was involved in the management, design and execution of a number of large-scale real estate development and building projects including work for the U.S. Department of Energy (Argonne National Laboratories), Saudia Airlines, Jeddah International Airport, Bridgestone, Ameritech, The Tribune Company, Andersen Consulting, Kraft, Discover Card and The Menninger Foundation, among others. Tom managed a joint venture between Kinden Corporation (a large infrastructure and building engineering firm) and Lohan Associates (a premier architectural firm) residing in Osaka, Japan for two years and has traveled extensively throughout Asia and Europe.

Tom is actively focused on a range of activities at the intersection of personal passion and professional contribution. These include innovation and strategy consulting, education and organizational development. Tom is a lecturer at Northwestern Graduate School of Management and Northwestern The Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, DePaul University Business, Carlson School of Management and at a variety of global industry and company-sponsored conferences. He holds a number of key board positions with Chicago-based companies including his senior role on the steering committee of the prestigious Edison Awards and as executive director of Edison Universe, a related 501(c)3 dedicated to broadening, deepening and strengthening education systems.

Tom is a member and participant at TED (a premier, annual, invitation-only, thought leadership conference held in Long Beach, California) and plays a senior role in planning and guiding Chicago Conference,” an annual conference for Chicago teens. Tom has a multi-disciplined background that includes aerospace engineering studies at Purdue University, a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology from Boston University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School.
